Not usually one for going to opening weekends for movies, I attended last night’s showing of Deadpool while visiting Iowa. As I silently predicted, the seats were rubbish. With it projected to do $117 million this weekend, and a strong rating on the tomatometer, getting to the movie – even the 9:45pm showing – 10 minutes before it started was always going to be tough. Fantastic Four

Finally saw Fantastic Four, the latest misguided attempt to create a definitive movie version of the seminal Lee/Kirby comic book, and my personal favourite comic book, thanks to almost 100 issues of unparalleled genius from the minds of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and the mostly excellent John Byrne run in the first half of the 80s. Movie Review: ANT MAN – boilerplate Marvel plot, elevated by Paul Rudd

Back from watching Ant Man, the latest offering from Marvel Studios, and like most people who’ve commented on Facebook, I enjoyed it. I thought Rudd was as engaging as he usually is, and it was a nice change to see him playing something like this instead of the sitcom rut I think he was digging into.
